About the event
Boroondara is teaming up with Councils across Greater Melbourne to join the Great Southern Bioblitz. As part of the challenge, we invite you to come along and join in an evening of moth spotting and identification.
What’s a BioBlitz you ask? A BioBlitz involves participants sighting and recording as many species as possible within a given timeframe and area. The Great Southern BioBlitz is an opportunity for southern hemisphere countries to record flora and fauna and showcase our beautiful biodiversity to the world.
We will be on hand to help you spot, learn about, and record your sightings, as we focus on amazing moths! Through using the free iNaturalist app, your sightings will contribute to the challenge.
We encourage you to download the free iNaturalist app prior to the event, however this is not essential to attend the session.
You may also like to watch a recording of an iNaturalist app training session to learn how to use the app, if this is your first time participating!
Together, let's show the world the incredible moths that Melbourne has to offer!
Please wear appropriate clothing and shoes for an outdoor walk along uneven ground. Please bring a water bottle and be prepared for wet weather.
This workshop is part of the 'Living for our Future Program', a community sustainable living initiative of the City of Boroondara. Stay up to date about future events and resources by visiting our Living for our Future webpage or by signing up for our e-newsletter.
