About the event
Boroondara is teaming up with Councils across wider Melbourne to join the Great Southern Bioblitz. As part of the challenge, Friends of Nettleton Park (Back2Nettleton Friends) invite you to come along and join a morning of nature spotting on a guided walk hosted by Tony Slater. Tony is a curious life-long learner and a passionate advocate for nature. The walk will have focus on eucalypts species and any other biodiversity we find along the way!
What’s a BioBlitz you ask? A BioBlitz involves participants sighting and recording as many species as possible within a given timeframe and area. The Great Southern BioBlitz is an opportunity for southern hemisphere countries to record flora and fauna and showcase our beautiful biodiversity to the world.
We will be on hand to help you spot, learn about, and record your sightings, as we focus on amazing plant life and animals. Through using the free iNaturalist app, your sightings will contribute to the challenge.
We encourage you to download the free iNaturalist app prior to the event, however this is not essential to attend the session.
You may also like to watch a recording of an iNaturalist app training session to learn how to use the app, if this is your first time participating!
Together, let's show the world the incredible wildlife and plants that Melbourne has to offer!
Please wear appropriate clothing and shoes for an outdoor walk along uneven ground. Please bring a water bottle and be prepared for wet weather.
Where to meet: at the Nettleton Park Playground in Dawson Drive, Glen Iris.
