Joe's Garden Great Southen Bioblitz

Join us for a fun event to explore citizen science and urban wildlife! This event requires no previous knowledge about gardening or nature - just come ready to learn.

The Great Southern Bioblitz is a hemisphere-wide scientific effort to record as much of our rich biodiversity as possible. Our goal is to introduce you to wildlife that has gone unnoticed in your backyards, and to bring out the scientist that lives inside every one of us.

The morning portion of the event will be a drop-in, free-roaming exploration of the wildlife living in Joe's Connected Garden. Come prepared to take pictures and learn lots! This will run until about 1 PM.

We will take a heat break in the midday and reconvene at Jo Gapper Park (nearby to Andrew's Urban Farm!) at 4 PM for scheduled guided tours (bookings to be posted soon) and free-roaming exploration until 7:30.

From 7:30 until 9:30 PM, join us for a catered Identification Party at Andrew's. Chat with others about the new bugs, birds, and plants you found, learn some field identification skills, and see how accessible science can be! We will be posting for specific RSVPs to the ID Party soon so our wonderful caterer is prepared
