🌏 Get Ready for the Great Southern BioBlitz 2025!
The Great Southern BioBlitz (GSB) is an international citizen science event where communities across the Southern Hemisphere record as much biodiversity as possible during spring. This year, #GSB25 will run from 24–27 October 2025.
Our goal is simple: celebrate biodiversity and help people connect with nature while contributing valuable data to science through iNaturalist. Whether you’re in Australia, South America, Africa, or beyond, you can join in by observing plants, animals, and fungi in your local area.

📱 Do I have to use the iNaturalist app?
Not at all! The iNaturalist app is the easiest way to participate — it automatically records date and location and lets you upload photos straight from your phone.
📸 Prefer using a camera?
That’s great too!
Upload your photos later using the Upload Tool
on iNaturalist.
If your camera doesn’t have GPS, you’ll need to add locations manually.
⏱️ Tip: record a GPS track on your phone and sync it to your photos — it saves a lot of time.
🎥 Helpful How-Tos

🌿 Why October?
By late spring in the Southern Hemisphere, nature is buzzing with activity — flowers are blooming, insects are emerging, birds are calling, and reptiles are on the move after winter. It’s the perfect time to document life!
