TERMS AND CONDITIONS: "Put a Image to the Great Southern BioBlitz 2026"

1. OBJECTIVE

This call for submissions aims to encourage the participation of our creative community in designing the official banner and flyer for the 2026 edition of the Great Southern BioBlitz (GSB). The goal is to select a visual proposal that fully captures the essence of our unique biodiversity in the Southern Hemisphere and the spirit of scientific collaboration that defines this event.


2. ELIGIBILITY

The call is open to the general public, especially directed towards artists, photographers, designers, and naturalists interested in showcasing their vision of nature on both a regional and global scale.

3. THE CREATIVE CHALLENGE

Proposals must originally represent the biodiversidad of the Southern Hemisphere. Suggested thematic areas (individual or combined) are:


- Native flora

-Wildlife / Fauna

- Fungi (the mushroom kingdom)

- Natural landscapes


4. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS AND FORMATS

Submitted designs must be versatile and mandatorily delivered adapted to the following two formats:


iNaturalist Project Format (Header):

Dimensions: 760 px wide by 320 px high.

Permitted formats: PNG or JPG.

Social Media Format (Instagram Vertical):

Dimensions: 1080 px wide by 1350 px high (4:5 Aspect Ratio).


Mandatory Requirement: The official GSB logo must be harmoniously integrated into both graphic pieces.

5. RECOGNITION AND NATURE OF THE CALL

Participation in this call is voluntary and collaborative, and therefore no financial compensation or monetary prizes will be provided.

In return, the selected design will become the official visual identity of the event and will be seen by thousands of people globally across all platforms and communications for the 2026 campaign, granting the creator prominent and proper authorship credit.


6. SELECTION AND VOTING PROCESS

Once the submission period closes, all entries meeting the technical requirements will be displayed for a public vote. The design that receives the most votes will be selected as the official image for the Great Southern BioBlitz 2026.


7. TERMS OF USE AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

In alignment with the citizen science and open-access principles promoted by the Great Southern BioBlitz, participants declare that they are the authors of the submitted works and retain their moral rights.

By submitting a proposal, participants agree that, if selected, their design will be shared under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) open license (or similar). This authorizes the GSB global and regional organization to distribute, adapt, and use the graphic pieces across the event's official channels, always guaranteeing explicit mention and due credit to the author of the work.


8. DEADLINE AND SUBMISSION CHANNEL

The call will remain open for a period of 30 calendar days from its official launch (5th June).

All proposals must be sent exclusively in digital format by filling out the following registration form:

Closing date 5th July.
